Figure 02 Robots Revolutionize Assembly Lines at BMW
Figure’s humanoid robots are achieving groundbreaking results at BMW's Spartanburg facility, where they now perform 1,000 daily autonomous battery cell placements, a critical task in EV assembly. CEO Brett Adcock highlighted that since their deploy ment in August, the robots have boosted assembly speeds by 400% and improved precision sevenfold. These robots operate independently, lifting, transporting, and positioning battery components onto car frames without human oversight. Engineers optimize their movements using digital replicas of the factory floor, ensuring efficiency before live deployment. This progress underscores the rapid evolution of general-purpose humanoid robots in industrial applications, marking a significant step toward broader adoption in factories and, eventually, homes.
Instagram’s New Feature Lets You Customize Your Content Experience
Instagram is rolling out a feature that lets users reset their content recommendations, giving you a clean slate for personalized feeds. You can now refresh suggestions in sections like Explore, Reels, and the main Feed by clearing existing recommendation data. The platform will then generate new recommendations based on updated user interactions. This feature is designed for those whose current recommendations no longer align with their interests, making it easier to manage the influence of past interactions. The reset process is simple, clear data with a few taps and revisit their followed accounts to reshape their feed. Instagram’s update reflects a growing trend among social media platforms to give users more control over their content. By adapting to dynamic preferences, the platform aims to enhance satisfaction and better align recommendations with individual interests. The feature is now being rolled out globally.
Musk’s Leaked Emails Show OpenAI’s Controversial Beginnings
New court filings from Elon Musk’s lawsuit against OpenAI have disclosed internal emails from 2015–2018, exposing early tensions within the company. The emails reveal concerns over AGI control, with co-founder Ilya Sutskever warning of potential "dictatorship" risks, whether from Google or OpenAI itself. Financial pressures also emerged as DeepMind tried to poach key staff, prompting rapid salary increases of $100–200K to retain talent. Musk himself opposed early collaboration with Microsoft, stating he’d pay "$50M not to seem like Microsoft’s marketing b*tch.” Additionally, questions arose about Sam Altman’s commitment to AGI, with Sutskever expressing doubts about his motivations. these revelations provide a fascinating glimpse into the early power struggles and ideological divides that shaped OpenAI. They also offer context for Musk’s ongoing tensions with Altman and the drama surrounding OpenAI's leadership shifts in late 2023.
