Meta’s Llama 3 Is About to Boost Open-Source AI Models.
Meta has recently launched their latest open-source AI model, Llama 3, which boasts 8B and 70B parameters and has outperformed its competitors in various evaluation benchmarks. These models have been trained on a dataset that is seven times larger than Llama 2. Meta is also planning to release a 400B+ parameter version of Llama 3 in the upcoming months, which is expected to rival the performance of GPT-4 in several parameters. To reach out to a wider audience, Meta has already started integrating Llama 3 on multiple platforms like Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger. This move could potentially allow Llama 3 to reach over 3 billion users of Meta’s products. The decision to make the AI model open source could boost AI usage worldwide and democratize advanced AI technology, making digital AI experiences more accessible and familiar to more users.

Microsoft’s VASA-1 can deep fake with just one photo
Microsoft has recently introduced a new AI model, VASA-1, which can bring still images to life. By providing it with a picture and an audio clip, the model can create a video of the person in the image lip-syncing to the audio, with realistic facial expressions and head movements. This technology can work with both real and artistic photos and can handle different languages as well. It can even create a video of the talking Mona Lisa lip-syncing to popular songs. Although this technology's primary focus is to enhance accessibility and education, it can potentially be misused to create deep fakes. As impressive as the technology is, it will not be available to the public until the company has established proper regulations around its use.
Drake drops AI-generated song with Tupac and Snoop Dogg
There has been speculation about a leaked track titled "Tailor Made Freestyle" by Drake for using AI-generated voices of famous singers like 2pac and Snoop Dogg. Some listeners have suggested that it might be generated by AI due to small glitches in the voice. Although the song's lyrics sound like they were written by Drake. The feud was started when an AI-generated track using Kendrick Lamar’s voice was generated by a TikTok user. which grabbed Drake's attention and another track was leaked in retaliation to it. This whole episode has all the fans riled up as the AI-generated voice was similar to the original artist. The inability to distinguish human-created music from AI generations is happening faster than anybody expected, and some of the world’s most popular musicians publicly leveraging the tech is sure to raise some serious questions about music’s AI future.
