Not too much, not too little. Just right. — The Goldilocks Principle
The productivity and personal growth space is quickly growing, and there is an ocean of content out there. So why did I choose to stick with three highlights per edition?
Neurologically, there is evidence that our brain finds it fairly easy to grasp threes - the A, B, Cs, the three musketeers, Huey, Dewey and Louie, Ed, Edd n Eddy (not sure if you're too young to remember that last one). There is evidence that when it is presented in a set of three, information simplifies a complex focus into memorable chunks that will be retained by the brain. Finally, this also means that by presenting information in sets of three, we increase the probability of achieving their respective calls to action.
My goal with the newsletter is to create content that adds value to your life, and I don't want it to get lost amidst the stream of noise that is social media. So I have decided to keep it simple by limiting the content to only 3 of my week's highlights and maximize the value out of each of them.
