Sam Altman Seeks $7 Trillion To Boost AI Chip Production
CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, is reportedly on a significant fundraising mission, aiming to secure trillions of dollars to boost chip manufacturing for AI development. His ambitious goal of raising $7 trillion, equivalent to the combined valuations of Apple and Microsoft, involves discussions with investors like the UAE, chipmakers such as TSMC, and even government entities like the US. Altman envisions OpenAI as the primary customer for this initiative, emphasizing that addressing AGI creation is fundamentally a supply issue rather than a tech or innovation challenge. US concerns about foreign tech influence could complicate these ambitious plans.
AI Algorithms Deciphered 2000-Year-Old Scroll
Nat Friedman, former GitHub CEO, initiated the Vesuvius Challenge to decipher Herculaneum papyri, ancient scrolls buried in 79 A.D. during Mount Vesuvius' eruption. Traditional methods failed due to fragility, prompting a global contest with a $1 million prize for AI-based deciphering. The winning team used AI to unveil over 2000 characters. This discovery promises to reshape our understanding of ancient Greek and Roman literature and history. This challenge aims to unlock more scrolls, exploring further AI applications to reveal more about the history.
Bard Is Now Gemini, Launches Ultra 1.0.
Google officially rebranded its AI chatbot Bard as Gemini, introducing significant upgrades. The Gemini Advanced tier provides access to the Ultra 1.0 model, Google's powerful AI competitor to GPT-4. Priced at $19.99/month as part of Google One AI Premium, it competes with ChatGPT Plus. The Gemini mobile app, available on Android and iOS in the U.S., enhances on-device assistance via typing, voice, and images. The app supports Google Assistant features like making calls and controlling smart devices.

Man Uses AI to Talk to Over 5000 Women to Find a Wife
Aleksandr Zhadan, a Russian man, created a customized AI bot using OpenAI's ChatGPT-4 for Tinder interactions with women. The bot, employing prompts and filters, engaged in conversations with 5000+ profiles over a year and even sent date invitations. He found his fiancƩe through this method, leading to the discontinuation of the bot. Interestingly, Tinder doesn't explicitly ban the use of AI chatbots for such purposes, and dating experts suggest that AI chatbots could offer a more seamless and less awkward experience on dating apps.
